When asked to help someone, you have to realize that not many people actually know how to work a computer, and for you to know, you are some what of a super person. When asked always remember:
When asked to help someone, you have to realize that not many people actually know how to work a computer, and for you to know, you are some what of a super person. When asked always remember:
- Charge, doesn't have to be as much as you normally do, but if you don't, they'll think they can have you for free forever. Don't get stuck in this.
- If you don't know how to do it, tell them straight out. You can tell them you'll learn, and see if they still want to use you.
- Work efficiently - If they trust you with their computer, they don't want you to keep it for a week, just to fix some viruses.
I have to admit, that I get stuck sometimes helping friends for free, which really doesn't bother me, but I realize that later on, they'll always expect it to be free. If you can't do something, just tell them you can't do it, and explain why.
Computers are fascinating and "magical" little boxes. You know how to work it, and most don't. So go out there and make money.
